The San Ramon Police Department announced on Wednesday that motor officers and designated patrol units have initiated an intensified traffic enforcement operation along the Bollinger Canyon Road arterial corridor between Alcosta Boulevard and Dougherty Road. Department supervisors scheduled the high-visibility safety deployment following community traffic complaints and automated speed feedback sensor data indicating elevated vehicle speeds during weekday morning and afternoon school transit hours in central San Ramon.

Traffic division lieutenants emphasized that safeguarding student pedestrians and cyclists traveling to Dougherty Valley High School, Windemere Ranch Middle School, and nearby Iron Horse Regional Trail crossings is the department's top priority. Officers are utilizing electronic LIDAR devices and deploying mobile digital radar display trailers to alert motorists to posted thirty-five and forty-five mile-per-hour municipal limits. Field units will issue strict citations for unsafe speed violations, illegal U-turns, and distracted driving infractions along arterial school approaches.

Municipal public works transportation engineers are coordinating with police leadership to analyze traffic flow patterns at key intersections, including Bollinger Canyon Road at Sunset Drive and Market Place. City officials noted that traffic data collected during the special enforcement period will guide potential engineering enhancements, such as extended pedestrian crossing intervals, refreshed high-visibility thermoplastic crosswalk striping, and adjusted arterial signal timing.

San Ramon residents, parents, and daily commuters can inspect traffic enforcement statistics, submit neighborhood speeding concerns, and view community traffic calming guidelines online at sanramon.ca.gov/police. Inquiries regarding school safety programs and municipal public works traffic engineering may be directed to the San Ramon Police Department traffic bureau Monday through Friday at (925) 973-2700. The specialized enforcement initiative will continue through next month.
