The Danville Town Council unanimously approved master event permits on Tuesday evening for the upcoming downtown holiday festivities, authorizing phased pedestrian closures along Hartz Avenue and expanded sidewalk dining permits for local merchants from Thanksgiving through early January. Meeting at Town Hall on La Gonda Way, council members emphasized that creating walkable, illuminated streetscapes bolsters retail foot traffic while preserving Danville's small-town historic charm.

The approved winter activation plan incorporates the annual lighting of the historic downtown oak tree on November 27, weekend artisan holiday markets along Prospect Avenue, and coordinated musical performances by San Ramon Valley High School chamber ensembles. Municipal maintenance crews will begin stringing low-voltage warm LED lighting across 120 mature street trees this coming Monday, while Danville police reserve officers manage designated pedestrian crosswalk safety zones.

Danville Chamber of Commerce representatives and downtown restaurateurs commended the council for waiving outdoor encroachment permit fees for downtown businesses during the six-week festival window. Town economic development coordinators noted that winter retail activations historically account for over 35 percent of downtown dining and boutique sales, attracting visitors from across Alamo, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, and the broader East Bay.

Residents, shoppers, and regional visitors can view the complete holiday event schedule, trolley transit schedules, and free municipal parking maps online at danville.ca.gov. Inquiries regarding merchant participation, holiday window decorating contests, and road closure hours may be directed to the Danville Recreation and Events Division Monday through Friday at (925) 314-3310. Hartz Avenue will open to normal through traffic during all non-event weekday business hours.
