Dublin Police and Regional Auto Theft Task Force Track High-End BMW Stolen From Amador Valley Boulevard Car Wash
Automated license plate readers and freeway surveillance cameras assist Tri-Valley investigators following brazen midday vehicle theft.

Dublin Police Services and detectives with the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force launched an intensive multi-agency investigation on Monday following the brazen theft of a late-model BMW luxury sedan from a full-service car wash facility along Amador Valley Boulevard. According to incident reports, a suspect seized an opportunity while the vehicle was being dried in the detailing bay, entered the driver's seat with the engine running, and accelerated out of the commercial parking lot onto westbound Dublin Boulevard.
Patrol officers arrived at the scene within three minutes of the emergency call and immediately coordinated with regional traffic management systems. Automated license plate recognition cameras positioned at key intersections and freeway on-ramps captured the stolen vehicle entering westbound Interstate 580 toward Castro Valley shortly before noon. Dublin investigators are collaborating with the California Highway Patrol and neighboring police departments in San Leandro and Oakland to track the vehicle's flight path and recover the car safely.
Dublin Police Captain Nate Schmidt issued a public safety reminder to local automotive business owners, valet operators, and patrons across the Tri-Valley, emphasizing the importance of securing electronic key fobs during vehicle servicing. While Dublin maintains one of the lowest property crime rates in Alameda County, law enforcement officials noted that organized vehicle theft rings frequently target busy commercial service centers where vehicles are left temporarily unattended with keys in the ignition.
Anyone with surveillance video or information regarding the suspect or the stolen vehicle is encouraged to contact Dublin Police Services at (925) 833-6670. Community members can submit anonymous investigative tips and review auto burglary prevention checklists online at dublin.ca.gov/police. Dublin police officers will host a community crime prevention workshop at the Dublin Civic Center on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM.
