The Town of Danville Parks and Recreation Department officially opened registration on Tuesday for its annual Spooktacular Halloween festival, scheduled to transform Oak Hill Park Community Center into an imaginative superhero and comic villain adventure on Friday, October 24. Designed specifically for toddlers and elementary school youth ages one through ten, the community celebration combines traditional autumn carnival activities with immersive theater and safety-conscious trick-or-treat trails.

Recreation coordinators confirmed that the 2026 festival expands upon previous seasonal formats by introducing dedicated sensory-friendly craft pavilions and quiet zones within the community center's lakeside meeting rooms. Between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., participating children will navigate themed outdoor activity stations featuring superhero obstacle courses, face painting booths, and commemorative photo backdrops managed by local high school student volunteers.

Danville municipal leaders emphasized that the event reinforces community bonds and youth physical activity in a controlled, pedestrian-only environment along Stone Valley Road. Local businesses, downtown merchants, and service clubs contributed allergen-free confections and creative storybooks for the trick-or-treat pavilions. Danville police officers and volunteer reserve personnel will oversee traffic circulation and pedestrian crossings near the park entrance throughout Friday afternoon.

Registration is required in advance through the town's recreation portal at danville.ca.us/recguide, with an admission fee of fifteen dollars per participating child while supervising adults attend free of charge. Families are encouraged to reserve time slots early, as attendance is capped to preserve manageable group sizes across the outdoor trail network. Additional questions regarding accessibility accommodations or parking arrangements may be directed to Danville Community Center staff at (925) 314-3400.
