Visual artists from across the San Ramon Valley and Contra Costa County are welcoming visitors to Blackhawk Plaza in Danville this week for the autumn showcase of the Alamo Danville Artists Society (ADAS) at the cooperative Blackhawk Gallery. Running through late October 2026, the seasonal exhibition pairs new landscape oils, Plein Air watercolors, ceramic vessels, and bronze sculptures by forty juried member artists with free public studio workshops led by acclaimed Bay Area watercolorist Pablo Villicaña Lara.

During the association's October studio demonstration program in Danville, Villicaña Lara—a signature member of the California Watercolor Association and instructor across the East Bay—walked painters and community guests through wet-on-wet pigment layering, atmospheric tonal values, and compositional sketching inspired by Mount Diablo's autumn oak canyons. Organizers noted that the interactive demonstrations are designed both to mentor emerging Tri-Valley painters and to demystify fine art techniques for local collectors and students.

Founded in 1977 as a nonprofit cultural organization serving Danville, Alamo, San Ramon, and neighboring Diablo Valley communities, the Alamo Danville Artists Society operates the Blackhawk Gallery at 3416 Blackhawk Plaza Circle while funding art education grants across the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Proceeds from gallery exhibitions and annual civic art shows directly underwrite classroom supply stipends and high school visual arts scholarships vetted by Town of Danville cultural commissioners and educators.

Admission to the Blackhawk Gallery is free to the public seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Residents can inspect the current exhibition catalog, register for upcoming monthly guest artist demonstrations, or review juried membership application dates online at adas4art.org.
